SVM is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to add to our growing team. The Assistant Controller will interact with many departments to assist with projects and recommend solutions to streamline processes.

What You will Do:

• Create and maintain annual budgets and forecasts for departments, ensuring significant budget discrepancies are relayed to management.
• Maintain Balance Sheet accounts and provide monthly reconciliation.
• Review monthly WIP.
• Manage and capitalize fixed assets.
• Manage and post entries for lease obligation.
• Post monthly journal entries.
• Partner with various departments to address accounting and operational tasks.
• Assist with special projects as received from departments that vary in complexity.
• Develop and maintain financial reporting systems for departments.
• Identify areas within Accounting Department to increase efficiency and/or streamline processes and implement solutions.
• Mentor Finance/Accounting staff to ensure excellence is delivered internally and externally.
• Support other Finance or Accounting areas as business functions.

What it takes:

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required.
• 5-7 years within a Sr. Accounting Role required.
• Knowledge of construction industry preferred, not required.
• Possess leadership skills.
• Ability to create or manage a budget to facilitate cash flow improvement.
• Experience with Viewpoint or another Construction Accounting Software preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively through phone, email and in person with the team and various departments.
• Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

• The employee may be required to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
• The employee may be required to occasionally move around the office.
• The employee may be required to lift, push or pull up to 10 lbs.
• While performing duties to the job, employees may be required to keyboard for prolonged periods.
