The primary purpose of the Payroll Specialist is to ensure accurate entry of payroll related data and timely processing of the company’s multi-state, multi-location payrolls. The payroll specialist is also responsible for providing general payroll information, reports, and support to ancillary departments.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Maintain data privacy and employee confidentiality.
Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
Update payroll records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, direct deposit, job titles and department/division transfers.
Enter, update, and monitor sick and vacations accruals.
Enter and update time punch items into Time and Attendance system.
Process and monitor garnishment orders and other items that impact payroll.
Update payroll records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, direct deposit, job titles and department/division transfers.
Enter and process payroll for employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
Audit and balance payroll prior to transmission to payroll vendor.
Prepare reports by compiling data of earnings, taxes, deductions, and nontaxable wages.
Process off cycle checks per department guidelines.
Prepare and process termination checks using appropriate state compliance guidelines.
Process and complete verifications of employment and other wage requests.
Review and respond to payroll questions and requests for information.
Research and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Contribute to team success by achieving specified metrics and team goals.
Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or GED. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Accounting or Business-related field of study preferred.
Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to use technology, including computer-based programs (Word, Excel) and applications.

Pay: 43,000-56,000 per year

The position is full-time and is located in our office in Kansas City, MO. This is an in-office, non-remote position. You must be able to commute to our office daily in order to be considered for this position.
