What you will do:
Within the First 30 Days:
Collaborates daily with the Lead Engineer and asks questions to gain clarity on established processes and procedures, and standards.
Learns the design responsibilities of the role specific to each project and our drafting software Revit/CAD.
Assists the Plumbing Engineering Team with project designs.
Learns how to size plumbing equipment and perform accurate calculations for waste/water/vent, pipe sizing, water heater/boiler sizing, friction loss, etc.
Within the First 3 months and ongoing:
Partners with their mentor to work on load calculations with the expectation of the following amount to be completed. Responsible for completing 1 - 2 calculations by 90 days.
Performs CAD/Revit drawing of basic plumbing and/or process piping systems for assigned projects and submits for review and approval upon completion.
Learns the process for filling out a Basis of Design (BOD) that is used for defining project requirements.
Successfully performs design calculations and other design decisions and asks thoughtful questions if needed.
6-12 months and ongoing:
Demonstrates an ability to execute responsibilities of equipment selection and scheduling. Collaborates with their mentor to complete system schematics and process and instrumentation diagrams.
Demonstrates a deeper understanding of Plumbing systems. Understands 3+ systems and able to complete design for hot & cold water, natural gas, waste & vent and condensate independently.
At 12 months, meets with the Lead Engineer for an annual review and feedback.
Education, Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar field preferred.
1-5 years of experience in commercial plumbing design, piping design or similar field required.
Proven experience with plumbing process piping design preferred.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience) required.
Ability to evaluate, provide diagnosis and necessary solutions on existing systems preferred.
Demonstrates proficiency in atypical systems in the plumbing industry preferred.
Demonstrated experience interpreting CA plumbing, mechanical, fire, and building codes highly preferred.
Possesses an EIT certification a plus.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam highly preferred
Compensation & Company Benefits Include:
The compensation for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 Annually and is based on experience and skillset.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, weekends as business requires for critical tasks.
