ESTIMATOR – PROJECT MANAGER – ARCHITECTURAL SHEET METAL
Van-Mulder Sheet Metal is a leading SF Bay Area architectural sheet metal contractor. We've been in business since 1972 and perform large-scale, institutional and commercial projects such as high-rises, hospitals, museums, airports, sport complexes and similar.
We are seeking a skilled, bright and motivated individual to join our high-performing team. Opportunity exists for well-matched individual to assume upper management role over time.
Estimating Duties:
Review contract drawings and specifications
Perform detailed and accurate material take-off
Obtain vendor pricing
Evaluate and apply appropriate factors for shop and field labor productivity
Assess project constraints such as access, transportation, schedule, etc.
Prepare and present proposals to clients for subcontracting services
Develop and support client relationships
Negotiate subcontract agreements and ensure that scope of work is properly identified in subcontract agreement
Project Management Duties:
Supervise preparation of detailed shop drawings
Purchase job-specific materials and prepare submittals for client review and approval
Negotiate and engage material vendors and sub-tier contractors
Coordinate construction details with client, other subcontractors and architect
Monitor material and labor utilization
Monitor and promote adequate and timely project cost control
Personally visit the job site to confirm conformance with all of the details set forth in the plans and specifications
Provide troubleshooting, problem solving, and technical assistance for the shop and field supervisors
Prepare schedule of values and provide accounting with monthly percentage completion
Document job conditions and provide appropriate communication per contract requirements
Monitor all changes in the job
Maintain consistent communications with the client, the architect and field supervisors to anticipate and resolve any issue that may impact the successful and timely completion of the job
Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, industry standards and risk mitigation
Typical computer application skills: Microsoft Office, Timberline, Adobe Acrobat, PlanGrid
Customer service focus, integrity, technical expertise, professionalism
Basic knowledge of building waterproofing fundamentals
Experience with Flashing and Sheet Metal, Metal Roofing and Wall Panels, Expansion Joints although experience in related field will be considered
